INTERNOTO - that means International society of the friends of notocacti.

We are a registered society which is specialized in the genus Notocactus. Our association was founded in 1980 and has members in many countries of the world such as Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uruguay.

In particular the purposes of our organization are the following:

a) the promotion of the scientific study of the large genus Notocactus and the conditions at the locality´s as well as the creation of unity and clarity in nomenclature and systematic affairs;

b) the protection and the preservation of the genus Notocactus in cultivation and at the natural locations according to the protection of species agreement;

c) the spreading of the knowledge about the genus Notocactus and their appropriate culture methods.

We try to fulfill these obligation by various activities. Thus club members get four times a year our club magazine with the title of the same name INTERNOTO. This magazine is accredited with the International Association for Plant Taxonomy for the purpose of registration of new names of vascular plants (excluding fossils). By the formation of specialized groups (workshops) certain aspects of a group of plants can be discussed intensively. A plant and a seed exchange take place among the club members annually. Thus it is possible for our members to receive interesting seed and plant material with known origin. Also with the sharing of practical experiences with the rearing and maintenance of notocacti we want to be helpful.

A substantial aspect of our association is naturally apart from the occupation with the plants the promotion of contacts and exchange of experience among the members as well as with similar communities of interests, working groups, unions, societies and specialists in the whole world. In addition regular meetings, lectures, exhibitions and inspections take place. Further INTERNOTO supports the promotion of scientific investigations and the publication of the results.

INTERNOTO supports the extension of protect-worth collections like the preservation collection for cacti and other succulents at the palm garden of the city of Frankfurt/Main or the urban collection of succulents in Zurich.
